Peet from PPP Industries explains how QUICKSTOCK has taken the stress out of managing consumables, giving him more time to focus on the operations in the workshop.

Tell us about PPP Industries

Here at PPP Industries, we focus on the feeding of dairy cows and dairy sheds.

 

We also do a bit of poultry. In the workshop we manufacture and do a lot of steel welding and a lot of manufacturing of steel products.

HOW DID YOU MANAGE CONSUMABLE INVENTORY BEFORE QUICKSTOCK?

Before QUICKSTOCK, how we used to manage it was a bit of a nightmare. We had to stocktakes everyday and make sure we had all the gear ready for the next day and then when team members need to leave to go do installs.

 

We didn't have the gear so before the install they had to waste an hour to go pick up more gear. And you either had to go to town to fetch it or you had to wait for it, order it and wait for a couple of days to arrive.

 

We just needed a better system. We had needed to get a competitive system, better system to manage it. It was causing too many delays, too much frustration and too much stress for everybody involved.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO USE QUICKSTOCK?

So I think one of the main reasons that we went with QUICKSTOCK was that the prices are very competitive.

 

And then their products are decent and the wide range of gear that they carry. Meaning everything from paints, lubricants, cutting fluids, gloves, PPE gear. They've got everything and yeah, it’s just so convenient.

HOW DOES THE QUICKSTOCK SYSTEM WORK FOR YOU?

Currently, our QUICKSTOCK works for PPP is we've got an open-door policy.

The men just go grab whatever they need. If they need cutting discs, they go grab cutting discs. If they need drill bits, they go grab drill bits. If they want to take ten, they take ten.

They just use what they need to and then mostly at the end of the month, what I do is I just go through the invoice that was sent and just see if there was no anomalies.

 

But most of the time that, everything is always in order. And it’s completely automated.

I don't have to think about it, I don't have to worry about it, I don't have to stress about it. And none of the men do. They just go to the QUICKSTOCK and grab whatever they need to complete their job.

 

The men sometimes ask to add something to QUICKSTOCK, I send a quick email. Normally in a couple of days a box arrives with what I want to add to QUICKSTOCK. It goes into the cabinets and the boys can use it however they want.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE QUICKSTOCK SOLUTION TO OTHER ENGINEERING COMPANIES?

QUICKSTOCK has definitely given me more time to spend on invoicing, sourcing different materials, getting better prices on things, focusing more on the men and more on the workshop and less time on managing consumables.

 

It’s also given me more time to do a bit of more admin and receipting and products and communicating with customers and, yeah, time to drink and eat more biscuits.

So my advice for any other company considering getting QUICKSTOCK, get a quote and if their prices are competitive just absolutely go for it.

It’s a pain free system.
