As you know, wearing a respirator is all about protecting your airways from dusts, particles, vapours and gases lurking around the workshop. But to do that, the respirator needs to be fitted with the right filters to stop the relevant nasties from getting in. Here's a guide to choosing the right filter for your CRAFTSMAN Half or Full-Face Respirator...

Choosing a filter is easy. You just need to know what you're protecting against. Here's a quick chart:

Filter Type Protects Against Application
CRAFTSMAN Particle Filter GP3 718 For use against both mechanically and thermally generated particulates including highly toxic materials.

Particulate protection class with effectiveness to 99.5% of particles
When generating dusts and fumes with sanding, grinding, cutting, polishing, or particles form welding or fabricating.

Working with toxic particulates such as mould remediation.
CRAFTSMAN Gas/Vapours Filter ABEK 719 Combination filter, for use against Organic vapours (boiling point >65°C), Inorganic vapours, and Acid gases, Ammonia and its derivatives. When working with a variety of solvents and acid gases such as chlorine, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen sulphide. Acid cleaning, Degreasing, paints and thinners, glues. Ammonia, refrigeration.

ABEK + Pre-Filter
The ABEK filter protects against organic vapours (A), inorganic vapours (B), acid gases (E), ammonia (K) and its derivatives.

The Pre-Filter then provides added P2 particulate protection against both mechanically and thermally generated particulates including highly toxic materials.

Adding the Pre-Filter provides added protection when generating dusts and fumes with sanding, grinding, cutting, polishing, or particles from welding or fabricating.
