Tell us a bit about Fineline Services…
'Here at Fineline Services in sunny New Plymouth we do all sorts of interesting things. We have laser cutters, plasma cutters, brake presses, rollers and formers so we can cut steel of any shape and size up to 200mm.
We do all sorts of interesting things from tiny slot car chassis up to major steel and structural work, artwork in stainless and in steel. So we have a design team which can create models for all sorts of interesting projects. One we've got at the moment is spiral staircases. They're quite interesting and technical pieces. Huge variety of work.'

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO USE QUICKSTOCK?
‘I've been in various forms of engineering for 48 years now. And stores and inventory was always an issue. Guys use stuff. None left. Usual story. Not letting anybody know. Time consuming. Pain in the butt. And it's happened at many, many places.
Inventory etc was added to my core role of responsibilities. Sometimes quite time consuming. And I'm always one for improvements. So we looked at the options to improve our stock availability and quality. Several reps visiting us selling their goodies. We had Shane from Euromarc turning up espousing the values of the Euromarc system. Something I haven't seen before.
The select product we use, a lot of locals just don't have it. Products are quality so they just sold themselves. How we knew it was going to work for us, we looked at the cabinets, got them set up, and it's just so good.'
HOW DOES THE QUICKSTOCK SYSTEM WORK WITH YOUR OPERATIONS?
‘So here at Fineline we've QUICKSTOCK setup in our storeroom. 2 cabinets stocked with quality ELITE product so when the boys need stuff it's just out of the workshop, in here, select what they want.
And we've just added a draw to the cabinets. Saves an awful lot of space. Really efficient. Lay things out easy for the boys to find. Quality products. Stock's always there. Keeps the boys on the floor working. They're happy, I'm happy. Win, win.'
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE COSTS INVOLVED IN ORDERING BEFORE QUICKSTOCK?
'So pre QUICKSTOCK we had lots of different suppliers, lots of different orders, and freight costs with every one.
So with QUICKSTOCK there is no freight charge. Stuff's always there. The monthly subscription we have now is far less than what we used to pay for freight on all our various orders. So that's all gone away.'
WOULD YOU SAY QUICKSTOCK HAS IMPROVED YOUR BUSINESS?
'QUICKSTOCK is now setup, running. The boys on the floor are happy. I'm happy because I don't have to worry about it anymore. So I can spend less time on stores and inventory, and more time on the core roles that help out the business.
With the monthly replenishing it's so good to see Georgia turn up with her happy face and all the goodies we need that she's identified to restock. If we do want stock items that aren't in the cabinet normally it's just a quick online visit and it's there the next morning.'
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE QUICKSTOCK SOLUTION TO OTHER ENGINEERING COMPANIES?
'I would recommend QUICKSTOCK to any company thats got a store small or large. This system is just so efficient and effective. Just takes a load off of staff. Saves personnel time and hassles worrying about stock. Pricing's good. Service is 11 out of 10. Euromarc have got quality people in place. Quality products. Free bikkies, always good.
